The Project Manager is the single most important person on an IT project.

Because there is no standardization of the term “Project Manager,” many candidates believe they actually are Project Managers, but in practical terms, they are not. And surprisingly, most recruiters and HR people (even the very good ones) don’t know how to interview a Project Manager, what questions to ask, and what the right answers should be. The process usually goes like this: a general review of the candidate’s work history; a few questions about the nature of project management; a “who do you know at XYZ Company” session; with the final decision based upon whether or not they like the candidate. This is not a very effective method of finding a truly qualified individual. It takes a Project Manager to know a Project Manager, and our approach is different from all other staffing firms:

KEEP™: Our rigorous evaluation process of KEEP™ rates all candidates in the critical categories of Knowledge, Education, Experience, and Personality. Candidates are questioned in-depth about their understanding of projects, failures and risk points, and are evaluated by our Senior Project Managers. We know what we are looking for, and only the best of the best can pass the evaluation. This assures our customers receive “real” Project Managers and not just people who “think” they are.

Project Management Oversight: All our Project Managers are fully supported by an Oversight Management Team of former CIOs and CTOs. Any problems or issues the Project Manager might run into are fully supported by the Oversight Team.

Proprietary Tools and Methodologies: We start with the premise that most project failures are due to inadequate planning, communication and improper (or entirely missing) risk assessment. A key foundation of our methodology is risk assessment and tracking. Scope, Schedule and Budget do not forecast future problems. It is only through daily documentation and tracking of risk factors can a project be kept on track. Our 20 years of experience have produced an abundance of tools which take the unknowns out of the equation and ensure project success. Surrex Project Managers are renowned in the IT world for their expertise. When we provide a Project Manager, our clients know they are getting excellence.
